Richard C. Kevin, Ph.D
I have been a psychologist and psychological counselor for 25 years in academic and community settings. Since 1986 I have practiced in Raleigh, NC. The foundation of my work with couples and individuals is a respectful understanding of their values and life experiences. My clients and I build upon this shared understanding to identify their goals for change and growth.

Some individuals find that the process of expressing and reflecting upon their experiences and goals enables them to make desired changes.Others find that a variety of more specific tools are helpful in achieving their goals. I employ techniques including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing(EMDR), meditation and imagery, and psychological testing when my clients and I determine that a focused technique will speed their change process.

My goal as a counselor is to assist you to travel your path for personal growth and intimacy with others. Clients who work with me typically seek to make progress in one or more of the following areas.

For Couples:

·    Improving communication and deepening intimate  connections.

·    Finding more joy together.

·    Working together as parents.

·    Resolving disagreements and chronic conflicts.

·    Mediating disputes which arise in the course of separation and divorce, post-divorce parenting, or caring for aging family members.

For Individuals:

·    Strengthening capacity for intimacy.

·    Setting and achieving meaningful goals.

·    Reclaiming creativity and joy which may be shut off by the effects of past traumas or losses

·    Thriving in challenging, stressful environments.

·    Channeling anger into constructive rather than hurtful and self-defeating behaviors.

·    Resolving depression and anxiety that blocks progress toward life goals.
